A thank-you note isn't a formality — it's proof that a kindness landed and was noticed.
How to write one in under five minutes

Open with the specific thing, not a generic thanks. "Thank you for the wine glasses" beats "Thank you for the gift" every time.

Say what it meant, briefly. One sentence. "We've already used them twice and thought of you both times" does more work than three paragraphs of praise.

Mention something forward-looking — a hope to see them again, a small detail from the visit you're still thinking about.

Sign it by hand, even if the rest was typed. The signature is the part that makes it yours.
What actually matters
Speed beats polish. A slightly imperfect note sent the next day means more than a perfect one that never gets written because you were waiting for the right moment.
